As per the veterinary charity PDSA, it has been found that more than 25% dogs are overweight and quarter of cats is fat. However, pet owners do not realize this fact as they think obesity is such a word which only troubles humans.
The experts said that it has become quite common to see pets in veterinary clinics, which are fat or suffering from diseases which have occurred due to obesity. It becomes a hilarious scene when doctors and nurses try hard to catch hold these fatty fury friends. One of the pet owners said that he has to struggle a lot whenever they have to lift their dog.
Often it is said that their pet was sleek, but gradually it gained weight. Experts said that it is important to realize that extra feed and repeated treats make pet gain weight. In many condition, a pet is not able to walk even as its legs are week and unable to carry its own weight.
The pet shops owners said that a lot of change has come in products, as earlier they used to keep standard size things for animals. However, now they have to make sure that they have extra large size collars, jackets and other stuff meant for pets.
The leading veterinary charity the PDSA has revealed that there are six million dogs and cats in the UK, which suffer from obesity. It has not only made them gain weight, but has also left them in pain and suffers from varied health complications.
